We believe knowing what you’re wearing matters. Material choice affects how a piece looks, wears, and lasts over time. Below is a simple guide to the metals we use at b warren designs, and why we choose them. Each product page also lists materials in full, so nothing is ever hidden.

Gold-Filled (Our Primary Material)

The majority of our gold jewelry is made with 14k or 18k gold-filled materials.

Gold-filled jewelry is created by bonding a thick layer of solid gold to a core metal. It offers the look and durability of solid gold—without the solid gold price point. With proper care, gold-filled jewelry can last for many years and is well suited for pieces designed to be worn often.

Gold Vermeil

Gold vermeil is made by layering gold over a sterling silver base. It offers the look of gold with a higher-quality foundation than traditional gold-plated jewelry. Vermeil is best suited for occasional to regular wear and benefits from a bit of extra care over time.

Gold-Plated

Gold-plated jewelry has a thinner layer of gold over a base metal. We use gold plating intentionally for select statement pieces or charms, where design and accessibility are the focus. These pieces are best suited for occasional wear and with proper care can be enjoyed for a long time.

Sterling Silver

All of our silver jewelry is made with sterling silver (92.5% pure silver), a classic, durable metal that can be maintained with regular wear or light polishing.

Jewelry Care

Our pieces are designed to be worn and enjoyed, but a little care goes a long way in keeping them looking their best.

General Care

  • Remove jewelry before swimming, showering, or exercising
  • Avoid contact with lotions, perfumes, and cleaning products
  • Put jewelry on after getting ready to minimize exposure to chemicals

Storage

  • Wipe with a soft cloth after wearing
  • Store pieces separately to prevent scratching and in a dry place
  • Use a pouch or jewelry box when not worn
